Mists of Pandaria
In order to get ahead of other players, you need to prepare before the expansion's release. Saving gold, stocking up on
low level materials getting gear for your monk, and building up a supply of stamina will put you at an advantage and give you more time for game play.
Plan Ahead: Save Gold
When new WoW expansions are released, prices in the Auction House go sky-high. This is especially true for crafting materials; after the Cataclysm release, certain ore and cloth sold for over 200 gold per stack.
Price gouging in the Auction House will slow your ability to level new professions. Start saving now and try to farm at least an hour each day and sell those materials.
Be Prepared: Collect Low Level Materials
While you're selling max level crafting materials, stock up on low level mats. The start of a new race and class will result in players who want to power level their monk's professions quickly.
You can pull in a lot of gold in the first few weeks simply by stockpiling lower level mats and selling them when the servers go live for Mists of Pandaria.
Get some Bind to Account (BtA) gear for your monk. The monks will be a leather-wearing class and have melee tank, healer, and DPS abilities.
Getting BtA for your monk will be a grind. You can obtain player vs. player (PvP) or player vs. environment (PvE) gear through vendors found in major cities. Orgrimmar and Stormvvind City are the easiest to find.
You will end up with shoulders, a chest piece, weapons, and trinkets. The rest of the BtA items are available from guild vendors. This requires a reputation of honored or better in a level 10 guild for your cloak and a level 20 guild for your helm.
These are expensive items. The cloak is 1,080 gold and the helm 151,500, so find a guild that is level 20 or higher if you aren't in one already. Even if you join only to get the gear, you can keep it when you leave.
The final BtA item is a ring you get by completing a quest chain that starts in Dalaran, which is the main city in Northrend. After you acquire these pieces, you will have a 40 percent experience boost. If you stay in your guild, you will receive an additional 10 percent.
This will help you level with your Pandaren until you reach level 80 for non-guild BtAs and 85 for guild BtAs.
MGB updating for Mists of Pandaria |
The best way to prepare your level 85 toon is to stock up on stamina gems, enchants, and buff food. It is also a good idea to respec and gem your character in order to become a survival machine.
Most players have raid gear that is excellent for DPS, but Cataclysm taught you that DPS doesn't always pay the bills. PvP gear works well for leveling.
The resistance buff won't help with leveling, but stamina and extra armor with the set bonus will help you in the first few levels in Mists of Pandaria. In Cataclysm, keeping PvP/raid maxed gear almost to level 85 proved to save a lot of gold: you could either sell or disenchant all of the leveling gear you get on the way.
Don't be afraid to ask for help. Many guilds run group quests and try to get players to level 85 as soon as possible. Since you are all raiding together, discuss a leveling strategy that could benefit everyone.
To prepare for Mists of Pandaria, save money in advance, stock up on materials for lower level professions, collect StA gear, and build up stamina on your level 85 toon. Remember, the best DPS gear is not always the best leveling gear, so start some PvP and get your 403 gear to hold for the day of release. You will have a head start in the Mists of Pandaria while everyone else is out farming.
Have Fun!
